Simon Collinson - Marketing Director, Wigan Warriors Rugby League
Simon Coillinson has spent 10 years involved with two of the most successful clubs in the English Super League. After qualifying with a first class degree in Sports Development & Management at Leeds Metropolitan University, Simon spent four years at Bradford Bulls, where he worked his way up to senior management, before becoming the youngest Marketing Director in English sport when he joined his home town club Wigan Warriors in 2004.
Over the last six years, Simon has overseen the re-building of the Wigan brand. The team's on-field success (culminating in Super League title in 2010) has been nmatched with equal off- field success in terms of strong results in terms of event marketing, ticket sales, community development and media engagement, both online and offline, as the Warriors became Britain’s Best Supported Rugby League Club.
Warriors New Shirt On Course For Record
Wigan Warriors' new Twenty 11 Home Shirt could become one of the biggest selling shirts in recent history as the Club reports an 86% increase on like-for-like sales in December.
Sales of the new shirt were 3,677 for the month of December; this figure was up from 1,976 the previous year, based on the same period and a launch at the same time.
The Warriors witnessed a bumper end to 2010 as many other product ranges sold well, including the new Twenty 11 Away Shirt and the club's Season Review DVD and Champions Photobook, which sold out in less than a week forcing the Club to bring in extra supplies before Christmas.
Speaking about retail and ticket sales, Marketing Director Simon Collinson said,
"There is a real buzz around the town at the moment with the new season just over a month away. Our online store and sales at Warriors World did extremely well in December and we would like to thank all our supporters for their continued support.
"Season tickets have again proved very popular and offer our fans great value for money for watching the Super League Champions at the DW Stadium.
"Added to that there is a lot of anticipation for the World Club Challenge game and the momentum is really building with fans now snapping up seats for the game for what promises to be a very special evening for the Club."
Season tickets and World Club Challenge tickets are still available from the DW Stadium Ticket Office, via the Ticket Hotline on 0871 66-33-552 and online, whilst the latest Official Warriors merchandise, including the Twenty 11 Home and Away Shirts, is available from Warriors World in the Grand Arcade, Wigan and online.
